According to a new report, LG might be preparing to unveil an upgraded version of its V30 model at MWC 2018. Sources of The Korea Herald suggest that the enhanced handset will come with "improved AI features" and will possibly be called "V30+ α". The Korean media outlet is rather vague as to what these AI features will be, but it does mention that LG has likely developed them in direct collaboration with Google.

While we do recommend that you take this information with a pinch of salt, LG Mobile's recent change of strategies does make the story seem a bit probable. As you might know, LG typically uses the floor at MWC Barcelona to announce the latest member of its flagship G series. However, at this year's CES event, LG CEO Jo Seong-Jin declared that his company will unveil new handset models "when it is needed" and won't necessarily do announcements in unison with rival companies. Moreover, there are also rumors that Jo Seong-Jin ordered his team to scratch the development of the G7 and start anew, which could very well push the announcement date for the new smartphone by a month or more.

The CEO also mentioned that there are plans for keeping high-end smartphones relevant for longer by releasing more variants of said models. Considering that the V30 is LG's latest and greatest handset to date, it is possible that it could be the first phone to receive additional variants with notable improvements that could keep it in vogue in 2018.
