A few weeks ago LG came to CES 2015 and unveiled the LG G Flex 2 smartphone, which is the first handset to make it out into the wild with a Snapdragon 810 processor on the inside.

We’re also expecting to see LG roll out its next flagship, the G4, but we’re unsure whether the handset will make an appearance at MWC 2015 or not.

Anyhow, it appears that the Korean company has found a new passion – making clam-shell phones. Even if this form factor has slowly faded into the background and customers have lost interest in it, LG thinks it is possible to revitalize the segment.

Back in September, the device maker introduced a new flip-phone, the LG Wine Smart which went on sale in South Korea, where a powerful community of flip-phone enthusiasts still exists to this day.

New clamshell from LG shows up

The Wine Smart runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and looks quite exquisite for a handset coming from this category.

Enter 2015 and LG is already gearing up to roll out another clamshell. It’s called the LG Ice Cream Smart and it leaked to us courtesy of @upleaks.

If you recognize the name, that’s because in 2008 LG rolled out the Ice Cream KF350 clamshell, so this upcoming model might be considered its successor, coming five years later.

We’re not told anything about the specs of the phone, we’re just shown an image of the upcoming device dressed in white.

It’s quite possible that the LG Ice Cream Smart will boast similar specifications as the Wine Smart, including a 3.5-inch display, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 (possibly a Snapdragon 410), 1GB of RAM and an 8MP rear camera.

There is no word of when LG will launch the flip phone, but keep checking back with us for any novelties on the topic.
