Shortly after announcing its flagship smartphone, the G3 will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop beginning this week, news about LG working on a completely different family of smartphones that will run Google’s latest version of Android have just popped up online.

LG has quite a few family of smartphones available on the market, but they aren’t that old as Samsung’s Galaxy S or Galaxy Note series. In fact, LG seems to plan to start a new series of smartphones each year, which might not be that good for business in the long run.

Anyway, the next lineup of Android 5.0 Lollipop smartphones that LG plans for next year is called the H Series and is likely to contain multiple smartphones that will be available in different versions depending on location.

The folks over at MyLGPhones have just spotted a mid-range unannounced smartphone called LG –H440n. The smartphone appears on the HTML5TEST site along with its benchmark score in Chrome and the version of OS is running.

We are pleased to report that the LG H440n is powered by an earlier version of Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is quite fine since Google has just handed the final version of the operating system to OEMs.

The smartphone’s display is confirmed to support HD (720p) resolution, but its size is unknown. No other details appear in the HTML5TEST, but we do know that it will be a mid-range device.

The LG H Series will make its debut in early 2015

The good news is the H series of smartphones will be launched in Europe and North America, but there’s a high chance they will be available worldwide.

According to the cited source, at least one of the smartphones in the H Series will be launched in the United States at both T-Mobile (LG H441) and AT&T (LG H443) carriers.

The international version of the device will be launched in Europe, but given its compatibility with the rest of the world it wouldn’t be surprising to see it being released in Asia as well, though we believe LG will want to tweak the phone’s specs to make it more appealing to customers in emerging markets.

It’s unlikely that the H Series will make its debut this year, as LG usually makes major announcements during important trade fairs like Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Mobile World Congress (MWC) and IFA.

Out best bet is that LG will reveal its new H Series of mid-range smartphone powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop in early 2015 at CES or MWC. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
