But the team’s decision to take a pass thus far on hacking iOS 6.1.3 for A5 and A6 devices like the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 has leveled the playing field. The first team to deliver a solid jailbreak implementation for iOS 7 will rise to the top of the ranks. But Redsn0w has an opportunity to take that title in the mean time be delivering an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak while its fellow teams sit on their hands.

Now comes the question of whether Redsn0w is willing to pull off such a coup. Jailbreak teams tend to treat any exploits they discover like they’re worth their weight in gold, preferring to use them on the most important releases like the earlier iOS 6.1 and the upcoming iOS 7.0. But a solo iOS 6.1.3 iPhone 5 jailbreak for Redsn0w means relevance. And if one major jailbreaking team goes there, then the others like Evasi0n may have to follow.

Such an all out assault on iOS 6.1.3 for iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 would potentially make it more difficult for teams like Redsn0w and Evasi0n to crack iOS 7, resulting in a delay of their jailbreak releases for the update.
