Huawei is sparing no marketing efforts to drum up excitement about the upcoming Mate 20 series that will be announced on October 16 at a London event. By now the leaked specs reveal a top-shelf end-of-2018 handset with Android's first 7nm chipset, curved OLED QuadHD+ display, giant 4200 mAh battery with ultrafast charging that tops up 70% in 30 minutes, and 15W wireless charging coil input.

That's all fine and dandy, but the star of the Mate-series show this year will be the camera pack on the rear, with three sensors and a flash arraigned in a tic-tac-toe format. The P20 Pro was first with a tri-camera setup and the Mate 20 Pro will carry over that tradition, but enhance it further with sensor and lens advancements and cleverer HDR trickery.

The latest teaser of the Mate 20 series that Huawei released puts an emphasis on all of these points above but sets them in a split square akin to what the unique camera area of the Pro will look like according to the leaked renders.
