Nowadays it seems that every flagship smartphone pushes the DxO Mark scores to new heights but the Huawei P20 Pro set a benchmark that might stay for a while.

Huawei's new phone has received an overall score of 109, which is some way up from the 99 points of the previous chart topper - Samsung Galaxy S9+. In fact the Korean flagship is now pushed down into third, just under the dual camera Huawei P20, which sits second with 102.

The P20 Pro managed to pull off this sky-high grade thanks to a 114 score in the Photo department. The first triple-camera smartphone uses its huge 1/1.73″ RGB sensor in conjunction with the 1/2.78″ Monochrome one to produce clear photos with very low noise.

DxO ranked the zoom to be the best on any smartphone it's tested.

Here are two photos from the test that show just how well exposed and detail-rich the images from the Huawei P20 Pro are. The P20 Pro downsizes 40MP images to 10MP.

The Huawei P20 lacks the Pro's 40MP camera but puts its conventional 12MP 1/2.3" RGB + 20MP 1/2.78" Monochrome dual camera to good use and secures the second highest Photo score.
