Huawei official says P9 and P9 Plus will soon receive Android 8.0 Oreo updates

Huawei P9 and P9 Plus made their debut on the market two years ago, which means it's unclear whether or not Huawei will provide them with Android Oreo updates. The Chinese handset maker has been a mum on the matter while continuing to deliver Oreo to its newer top-tier smartphones.

However, it looks like there's a high chance both the P9 and P9 Plus might receive the long-awaited update. If you haven't upgraded to a newer smartphone, it appears that one Huawei official said the P9 and P9 Plus will soon receive Android Oreo updates, which will include EMUI 8.0.

If the information proves to be accurate, Oreo will be the last major Android OS update the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will receive, so if you're looking for devices that will eventually run Android P, these are definitely not among them.

Unfortunately, the Huawei official did not offer any timeframe for the release of the update, but we can safely assume it will happen this year. So, there you have it folks, Huawei has decided to breath new life into these flagships, two years after their market launch.
