It's only been a few days since we reported on a possible HTC mid-range Android smartphone that might go official in the next couple of weeks, and the Taiwanese company has just unveiled the Desire 620.

As the name suggests, HTC Desire 620 is a mid-range smartphone powered by Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. Although it's a bit too early to talk about any Lollipop upgrades for this particular smartphone, we doubt HTC will be offering the update in the future.

Still, according to Google's OS update policy, the Desire 620 qualifies for an Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade, so we just need to wait and see what HTC's plans concerning this smartphone are.

Until then, let's see what the Desire 620 has to offer in terms of specs. First of all, the mid-range handset is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and 1GB of RAM.

In addition, the smartphone packs 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

HTC Desire 620 sports a decent 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720p resolution and it's powered by a 2100 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Connectivity-wise, the Desire 620 offers a variety of options, including LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, microUSB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack, dual-SIM capability and GPS with A-GPS support.

On the back, the device packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as Eye Experience features. There's also a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front, which makes the Desire 620 a great smartphone for taking selfies.

The smartphone is now available only in Taiwan

Along with the Desire 620, HTC also introduced the Desire 620G, which comes with slightly different specs and sells for a cheaper price.

For example, HTC Desire 620G is equipped with a 1.7GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6592 processor inside and microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB, instead of 128GB.

The MediaTek-powered Desire 620G lacks LTE support, but offers 3G+ connectivity instead. The rest of the phones specs are similar, including amount of RAM, storage and battery. They also come with the same display and cameras.

Both HTC smartphones have been officially introduced in Taiwan and are now available for purchase. The Desire 620 can be had for about $225 (€180) outright, while the Desire 620G variant is priced at only $160 (€130).

There is no info on the possible release of any of the two HTC Desire smartphones in other countries, but we will probably know more in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
