Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 Mobile only for select Windows Phone devices, leaving behind not only models with 512 MB of RAM, but also a few others that at the first glance have the necessary hardware to run the new operating system flawlessly.

Among them, the HTC M8 for Windows, which was originally included on the list of devices receiving Windows 10 Mobile but is no longer getting the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile due to unknown reasons.
Microsoft has already confirmed that HTC M8 won’t receive the new operating system, but in a new tweet, HTC says that its device will actually get Windows 10 Mobile. While this contradictory information only creates more confusion among users, it also leads to more hopes that Microsoft could change its mind and actually ship Windows 10 Mobile to more devices on the unsupported list.
Discussions still under way? HTC says “there will be an update on your device, it’s just that it will be reviewed by the carrier before they will roll it out,” while the official account added that “we don’t have any details to share on updates for that device at this time.”
By the looks of it, Microsoft and HTC are still discussing whether Windows 10 Mobile should be shipped to the M8, but there’s no doubt that an official announcement in this regard is needed. Without a doubt, all this uncertainty surrounding one or more models doesn’t help Windows 10 Mobile, especially given the criticism following Microsoft’s decision to leave behind so many devices.
In terms of specs, the HTC M8 seems to be more than capable to run Windows 10 Mobile, as it comes with 2 GB of RAM, a 5-inch screen, Snapdragon 801 processor running at 2.3 GHz, Adreno 330 GPU and 32 GB of internal storage, with microSD also being offered.
