HP HAS MADE its Windows 10-powered Elite X3 smartphone available in the UK, for a cool £706.80.

The company has started taking orders for the device, which is one of the first non-Microsoft Windows 10 smartphones.

The HP Elite X3 can be picked up now from HP's website and the firm is promising shipping within five to ten days. However, you'll need to be a big Windows Phone fan to cough up the £706.80 asking price - even if that does include a 'free' Desk Dock, that allows you to transform the smartphone into a makeshift PC.

However, as pointed out by Neowin, business users - which the Elite x3 is primarily aimed at - will be able to claim back VAT on the device, reducing the cost to a more reasonable £589.

The HP Elite X3 was first announced at this year's MWC, with the firm touting the device as the first "business 3-in-1 device" because it apparently offers "the power and productivity of a PC, the versatility of a tablet, and the connectivity of a smartphone in the palm of your hand".

On the specs side, the HP Elite X3 packs a Galaxy Note 7-trumping 5.96in QHD AMOLED display, and even mimics Samsung's newest phablet with both a built-in fingerprint sensor and iris scanner. The smartphone, er, tablet, or, er, PC, comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, backed up by a meaty 4GB RAM, 64GB built-in storage and a 4,150mAh battery.

The IP67-certified device also offers 16MP and 8MP camera set-up, a USB Type-C connector, built-in NFC and support for Qi wireless charging.
