Honor has just announced it will launch its first 5G smartphone sometime in 2019. Honor is only the newest handset makers that jumped on the 5G bandwagon, so the beginning of 2019 shapes up to be pretty exciting for those looking to get their hands 5G devices.

Honor's President, Mr. George Zhao said at the World INS Conference 2018 held in Beijing that his company's first 5G smartphone will be released in 2019 but did not provide a clear timeframe yet. He also said that mobile carriers that can find the best solutions for their customers will become the top players to lead the 5G era.

It appears that 2019 will be the year of 5G, so the question is if there will be enough smartphones to support the new technology available in the market, but whether or not carriers will be able to offer enough coverage to justify customers' investments in these 5G smartphones.

Huawei, Samsung, Lenovo, and Honor are just some of the companies that will launch 5G phones in the first half of 2019, but we can safely assume that others will follow to avoid being left behind.
