Here Is What Apple Has Clarified So far - iPhone Battery Replacements
If you own a device from iPhone 6 and onwards, you will be eligible for a battery replacement that will set you back by just $29 (reduced from $79 courtesy of Apple). This was Apple’s repayment after it openly acknowledged that it was slowing down your iPhone in exchange for better battery life. However, there are still some things that you should be made aware of before commencing your trip to the Apple Store. This will end up saving you a lot of time and hassle in the end.
If the iPhone Owner Is Willing to Pay $29 and the Smartphone Has Not Been Damaged, Apple Store Employees Will Not Be Able to Refuse Your Request
Apple has provided a clarification on its battery replacement policy. Initially, there were some reports that Apple Store employees refused customers from changing their batteries because these batteries still managed to pass the Apple diagnostics testing phase.
Now a new report states that if you are willing to pay $29 for the battery replacement and if your smartphone has not been severely damaged, then these employees will have no right to stop you.
Here is a list of devices that are eligible for a battery replacement:
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X
Please keep in mind that Apple might not be able to replace your battery if it finds other damage to the device or interfering third-party components. Now, what will happen if you are trying to get a free battery replacement through an AppleCare warranty claim? Well in that circumstance, the device diagnostics will still be a prerequisite. The current policy will flag a battery as needing repair if it retains less than 80 percent of its original charge capacity.
Apple is finally doing right by giving customers a $29 battery replacement but this will only be valid until 2018.
