If you’re an extreme sports enthusiast, you probably own a GoPro. These are small action cameras which can be mounted basically anywhere (like on your helmet), so you can film the best parts of your adventures.

GoPro also has an app camera companion compatible with Windows Phone, that went live last year.
GoPro app for Windows Phone gets a bump

And the good news is that just in time for the holiday season, GoPro has updated its Windows Phone app to include new cameras and a few improvements that will surely enhance your snowboarding adventure filming experience this winter season.

So, the new camera app from GoPro is now able to play nice with the latest camera coming from the manufacturer – the HERO4 (that is able to shoot 4K at 30fps, if you get the Black model that is).

On top of that, the app is compatible with the HERO+ and the HERO3 and HD HERO2 with Wi-Fi BacPac.

Owners of the HERO3+ and HERO4 will be able to wirelessly update the camera software through the GoPro app.

Moreover, they can also update their camera Wi-Fi network name and password.

Key aspects of the GoPro for WP app

GoPro has outfitted the application with full remote control of all camera features and has bestowed a mode for viewing photos and play back videos.

Those using the app are able to copy photos and video to their handsets and share them on their social media via email, text, Instagram, Facebook and more.

Furthermore, the app shows you the GoPro Photo and Video of the Day for further enjoyment.

Since the update supports the HERO4, the app will let you tap into the camera’s new capture modes too, including night lapse, night photo, photo+ video and so on.

Users can now add HiLight tags during video recording, which are visible during playback.

The HERO4 got released back in September and arrives in Black and Silver models. The Black one is the more advanced, offering 4K video recording at 30fps and 1080o at 120fps.

The new model adds manual control over ISO limit, color and exposure settings, something that comes in handy in low-lighting scenarios.

On the other hand, the Silver one can capture 4K only at 15fps, pretty much like the HERO3/3+. But the snapper comes with a perk of its own – it boasts a built-in touchscreen display where you can view the images you've snapped.
