Google has been making a big photos push ever since the launch of its revamped Photos app and cloud storage service in May. To further bolster its Photos offering, Google on Friday bought up Fly Labs, maker of various videography apps for iOS.
According to a statement published to Fly Labs’s website, that company’s team will become part of the Google Photos development team, and that its technology will be integrated into the existing Google Photos apps.

“It’s a perfect match for what we built at Fly Labs, and we’re looking forward to folding our technology into Google Photos,” Fly Labs’s statement reads in part. “We’ll be pouring the same passion into Google Photos that we poured into Clips, Fly, Tempo and Crop on the Fly.”
The exact form Fly Labs’s tech will take in the Google Photos apps remains to be seen, but the company’s focus on video is a pretty clear indication that Google plans to bring improved video editing features to its photography apps.

In the meantime, if you own an iPhone, you can get a taste of what might be to come. As part of its transition to the Google Photos team, Fly Labs announced that its iOS apps—Clips, Tempo, Fly, and Crop—will remain available on the App Store for three more months, and will be completely free, with no in-app purchases.
