The other day, we told you that when Google decides to close Hangouts to consumers, it plans to migrate current users of the app to the Hangouts Meet app and the Hangouts Chat app. The former focuses on video based enterprise communication, while the latter is focused on text based enterprise communication. Of course, Google already has the Duo and Messages app that are consumer oriented.

Just yesterday, the Google G Suite Blog had an interesting piece of news. Google is bringing Smart Reply to Hangouts Chat. This feature uses machine learning to propose three appropriate answers to messages that seek a response. Once you press on the Smart Reply that you want to use, it is instantly posted as your answer. Of course, you can still send your own typed out response if none of the three Smart Reply choices appeals to you.

Available in English only, the Smart Reply feature is being pushed out to the Hangouts Chat app some time over the next few days. It does save you time and effort when you need to type a response to a message. You can see what Smart Reply on Hangouts Chat will look like by viewing the GIF at the top of this article.
