Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 10 Mobile operating system has yet to make an official debut into the wild, but this aspect hasn’t stopped OEM partners from announcing smartphones bundling this particular operating system.

It’s the case of relatively unknown Freetel which today has unveiled two new Windows 10 Mobile smartphones (as seen at GSM Dome).

The duo is pretty colorful and vibrant, but it doesn’t come with high-end specs as you might have been hoping.

Windows 10 Mobile is going to make it on low-end phones

Actually, the upcoming handsets will be sold pretty affordably. The first device is called Katana 01 that will make a debut into the wild with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution, which is not much judging by today’s standards.

The phone draws power from an unnamed quad-core processor and is equipped with a rear camera that takes advantage of dual-LED flash. The exact processor model and capacity of the camera are probably going to be kept under wraps until the phone actually launches.

The Katana 01 is kept alive by a pretty skimpy 1,700 mAh battery and Freetel will offer the model in five different models including purple, blue, silver, black and yellow. The Katana 01 will cost around $160 / €141.

Moving on, we have the Katana 02 which offers a slightly larger display of 5-inch variety with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The same quad-core processor lies under the hood probably clocked at a higher rate. Oddly enough, Freetel doesn’t say anything else about specifications, except naming the price for the phone which is $240 / €211.

Android 5.0 Lollipop anyone?

Besides the new Windows 10 Mobile phones, Freetel also unveiled two new Android 5.0 Lollipop devices.

The first one is called the Samurai Miyabi which arrives with a 5-inch HD IPS display, quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Freetel also throw in Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, a 2,200 mAh battery and pretty nifty 13MP rear camera on the back.

The second Android device is called the Samurai Kiwami, but for the moment we don’t know anything about the specs inside the model.

So we’ll have to wait for this summer to see the company unveil the full spec lists for the new handsets.
