Introduced back in August, Fossil's Gen 5 smartwatches are the first such wearable devices powered by Wear OS to be able to make calls when paired to iPhones. This feature was only available on Android due to the limitations imposed by Apple's iOS, but it's now being rolled out to iPhone users as well.

Many Reddit users confirmed recently the feature promised by Fossil is now making its way to Gen 5 smartwatches in the latest update. Now, before anyone with a different Wear OS smartwatch gets their hopes too high, let's just clarify how these smartwatches could get such a feature.

Well, it looks like Fossil has been working on proprietary software that lets it enable the option to take and make calls from a Gen 5 smartwatch when paired to an iPhone. Basically, this means that this feature will remain exclusive to Fossil smartwatches.

However, at the moment, Carlyle and Julianna are the only smartwatches that are getting the update that enables this feature. If you own one of Fossil's Gen 5 wearable devices, expect the update to bring improved calls when connected to an Android phone and a fix for the “ticking” issue.

Since this is a staged roll-out, it may take a week for all Fossil Gen 5 smartwatches to receive the update, so be patient if you didn't get it yet.
