Fortnite, the phenomenon that's redefining mobile gaming as we know it, has just received a major update that adds support for more devices and brings some much-needed gameplay features.

Previously, Epic Games stated that some smartphones aren't supported, such as the HTC 10, U Ultra, U11, U11+, and U12+, as well as Motorola's Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, and Moto Z2 Force. Moreover, some Sony devices were skipped from the original support list, so the Xperia XZ, XZs, XZ1, and XZ2 did not offer a smooth gameplay experience (or none at all).

However, Fortnite v5.40 should offer support for all compatible HTC, Motorola and Sony smartphones, not just those listed above. But that's not all, as Epic Games announced several other improvements to the game.

The most important is the addition of voice chat, a necessary feature for those who prefer to play Fortnite with their friends. Some major memory optimization on Android devices with Adreno GPUs has been implemented as well, which should prevent performance degradation due to memory pressure.

There are a lot more improvements and bug fixes included in this update, so make sure to check out Epic Games' full changelog linked at the end of the article.
