Metis Learning introduced Eddy, which is claimed to be India's first Android-based learning tablet for kids, in India. Priced at Rs 9,999, the tablet is targeted at children aged between 2-10 years.

According to the company, Eddy comes with educator-selected learning content, a kid-safe environment and high-quality hardware. It also has a kid-safe browser, which only permits access to reliable websites. Not only can parents set time limits for their children to play on Eddy, they can decide which subjects their children should focus on.

In addition, they get detailed reports on what their child is actually doing on the tablet. Parents can create up to three child profiles on Eddy to ensure that each child gets relevant content as per their needs.

The Eddy tablet comes with over 150 learning games, and is linked to school curriculum. It covers key learning areas including language, mathematics, and creativity.

Children can read books, learn to play the piano, explore the world as well as practice math through games on Eddy. Games on the tablet are said to be highly engaging and violence-free. Parents also have access to over 50,000 educational apps on Google Play store.

Eddy also comes with a recommendation engine for parents, the Kids Radar, which recommends the most suitable learning apps for their kids on the Play store. The tablet's proprietary technology allows kids to play in a safe zone, with access to only those apps which are suitable for them.

Eddy has a 7-inch (1024x600) IPS display, a 0.3 megapixel front camera and a 2 megapixel back camera. Its 3200 mAh battery is said to last for more than 4 hours.

Eddy is engineered with 1.6GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and an internal memory of 8GB. Its memory is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. The tablet also has an HDMI port. The tablet is available on eddytablet.com and amazon.in.
