Almost two months after the LG G8X ThinQ was introduced at IFA 2019, its official US release date has been announced as Friday, November 1.

The new flagship will ship bundled with LG’s updated Dual Screen accessory as standard and retail at $699.99 when purchased unlocked. This means the company is positioning the smartphone as a direct competitor to Apple’s iPhone 11 and Samsung’s Galaxy S10e rather than an alternative to the iPhone 11 Pro and Galaxy Note 10.

LG says the phone will be available to purchase through retailers including Amazon and two major carriers – AT&T and Sprint. The latter two are expected to offer a range of launch deals that LG believes could bring the price down to as little as $300. Pre-orders commence this Friday, October 25.

The South Korean brand typically launches its devices on Verizon and T-Mobile too, but either the carriers have passed on the phone or LG is purposely limiting its availability because that isn’t happening with the G8X ThinQ.

For $699, the LG G8X ThinQ offers Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 paired with a respectable 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Also part of the package is a large, 6.4-inch OLED display and a dual-camera setup on the back which houses a main 12-megapixel sensor and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide snapper.
