BlackBerry users already know by now that WhatsApp announced it would pull support for its BB10 and BB operating systems in general at the end of this year. But few know that Facebook made a similar move without even announcing it.

Facebook decided this week to end support of their essential APIs for BlackBerry. The update that some BlackBerry users received from Facebook a few days ago turned the app into a link to Facebook’s web listing inside BlackBerry’s standard browser.
Today, BlackBerry has issued an official statement that highlights the fact that it tried to work with both Facebook and WhatsApp to change their minds, but at this time, their decision stands.
On top of that, the Canadian company wants users to know that their “commitment to BlackBerry 10 and to developers has not changed - we know our developer community continues to be one of the strongest proponents of BlackBerry 10 and they are creating thousands of apps every month.”
The best 20 apps are now featured for two weeks To make things more appealing to those who still use BlackBerry smartphones, the Canadian company has decided to include some of the best native apps on BlackBerry World in a list called “Great Apps on BlackBerry.”
This list usually contains 20 major applications, which will be featured for two weeks, once per month, just like the way BlackBerry features apps on the BlackBerry World Carousel.
Furthermore, BlackBerry promises that it will continue to invest in some of the applications, and here we could mention the update to the Twitter app released recently with important fixes and another update coming next month with new features.
BlackBerry assures fans who haven’t switched to the PRIV yet that they will continue to provide BB10 customers with the best OS features and apps possible.
In other news, BlackBerry plans to launch at least one more Android smartphone this year, but no BB10 handsets have been tipped for release in 2016.
