Samsung has released a special edition of the Galaxy Note 8 phablet in South Korea. If you're looking for a Note 8 with more storage, this is your handset, but you’re going to have to pay for the privilege.

This Note 8 is badged as the Galaxy Note 8 Avant Edition, and has been designed alongside Korean artist 99 Avant. Avant has supplied a number unique icons and wallpapers.

What’s crazy is what makes this edition ‘special’. Yes, Samsung has upped the internal storage to 256 GB from the vanilla Note 8 model, but that’s it for the hardware. There’s no new color scheme, no subtle changes to the color of the physical buttons, it’s a Note 8 with more storage.

You do have the aforementioned new theme built in to the software, and there is a soft-touch protective case that is only available as part of the Avant Edition retail packaging (which is welcome), but here comes the slightly crazy part of the whole package.

Samsung is selling the Galaxy Note 8 Avant Edition for $1,800 (1,991,000 won).

If you’ve ever wanted to know how much a luxury brand adds to the price of a handset, here’s your answer.
