Canadian Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 owners to soon receive Oreo

The Android Oreo update is heading for the Canadian border and those in the country totin' the Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy S8+ and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. On its members app, Samsung Canada announced that the Galaxy 8 and Galaxy 8+ will receive the Android 8.0 update OTA starting on March 19th. Those with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will receive it on March 28th.

The most well known feature on Android 8.0 is the Picture-in-Picture capability that allows users to watch a video while still interacting with the app running in the background. Notification Channels will show, well, notifications for five different categories: Alerts, General Messages, Miscellaneous, Screenshots, and Storage. A streamlined Settings menu cuts the number of items listen in half and standby time will consume less energy from the battery as apps doze off in the background.

Samsung Canada's members app also revealed that the Android Oreo update will be coming to the Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Samsung Galaxy A5 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 in the Spring/Summer of 2018. The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4, Samsung Galaxy A8, Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime, Samsung Galaxy Tab A8, Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 will all receive Android 8.0 later this year.
