Despite John Chen's recent statement that his company will not build an Android smartphone unless it can make it secure, rumors about unannounced BlackBerry Android handsets continue to emerge.

The first BlackBerry smartphone powered by Android was rumored to arrive later this year with QWERTY keyboard and slider form factor.

Dubbed BlackBerry Venice, the smartphone is expected to pack a 5.4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that would support Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

Furthermore, the Venice is said to feature an 18-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel photo snapper in the front.

On the inside, the Android-powered smartphone under the BlackBerry brand would be packed with a 64-bit 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM.

The Venice is rumored to arrive sometime in November 2015, but the smartphone should be announced slightly earlier.
BlackBerry Venice or BlackBerry Prague?

But another rumor claims BlackBerry has no intention of launching a high-end Android-powered smartphones, instead the Canadian company will unveil a wallet-friendly device that will be initially launched in Indonesia, India and other emerging markets.

The so-called BlackBerry Prague is said to be launched as early as August. It will feature a similar design and form factor as the BlackBerry Z3.

Today, @evleaks published the first press render of a BlackBerry smartphone powered by Android. No additional details on the phone's specs are given, but the picture shows that the smartphone will pack physical, as well as virtual QWERTY keyboards.

In fact, it looks very much like BlackBerry Passport powered by Android operating system. Perhaps the Canadian company plans to launch one of its already available handsets, but with a different OS.

In the same piece of news, @evleaks also claims that the BlackBerry Venice will be launched in the United States at AT&T, but this might not be the only carrier in the country to get it.
