ONCE YOU DO THIS SIMPLE JAILBREAK THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS

What you’ll need:

Micro USB Cable (or BlackBerry Data Cable)

Step 1: Download and extract the compressed file to your desktop, then launch Seas0nPass software.


Step 2: Select the button that says “Create IPSW” which will commence the jailbreaking process.


Step 3: Seas0nPass will now download and manipulate the latest firmware revision which will then be flashed to your device.


Step 4: The software will prompt you to connect the Apple TV to your computer, do so using the Micro USB Cable without plugging the electrical power cord into the device.


Step 5: Once you see the light on the Apple TV flashing slowly, press and hold the MENU and DOWN buttons on the silver Apple TV remote for 12 seconds in order to enter what is called DFU recovery mode.


Certain problematic units will demonstrate the light not flashing when plugged into the Micro USB Cable. This will require you to enter DFU mode through a jumper technique. First you’ll need to plug the electrical power cord into the device, followed by the Micro USB Cable. You’ll then need to remove the electrical power cord and follow Step 5 as normal.

Step 6: Sit tight while iTunes automatically restores the custom jailbroken firmware to the device. Should the process not begin immediately, hold the OPTION (or Shift on Windows) key on your keyboard, click restore, then open the IPSW firmware file displayed in the folder window.


Step 7: Once the firmware flash is complete, iTunes will open a prompt notifying you. You may now unplug the Micro USB Cable from your Apple TV device.

Your Apple TV is now jailbroken and open to third party software installation. The next step will be to install XBMC Media Center.

Update: apple are no longer signing off firmware lower than 5.0.

If you have an apple tv 2 and have not jailbroking it yet then you need to update to the latest firmware on iTunes then preform the seasonpass jailbreak, this is currently only a tethered jailbrake meaning you need to boot the Atv from a Pc every time it's turned off, similar to the iPhone jailbrake.

Work is under way for an untethered jailbrake that won't require a boot from Pc.
