Even though Google has already confirmed it will offer Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrades for Nexus 4 and 5 smartphones, as well as Nexus 7 and 10 tablets, the search giant did not share any details on the exact release date of these updates.

We do know that Google plans to upgrade all the Google Play Edition smartphones as well “in the coming weeks.” However, none of the devices mentioned will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update until the new OS is officially released on the market.

The good news is those who own Nexus devices won’t have to wait too long for the update, as Google is expected to start shipping the Nexus 6 in early November.

According to the company, pre-orders for the Motorola Nexus 6 should commence on October 29 and orders should ship on November 2 or 3.

This means that Android 5.0 Lollipop should start arriving on the Nexus devices mentioned earlier around the same timeframe. Well, it looks like Google needs to work a bit more on the new OS and will only provide two devices with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

AndroidPolice claims it has two reliable sources that confirmed to the blog that Google plans to launch the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi) and Nexus 10 (Wi-Fi) on November 3.

The update will be pushed in OTA (over the air) in stages, but it shouldn’t take more than a few days for all those who own one of the two tablets to receive it.
The GPE devices might receive the update next month as well

Unfortunately, the rest of the Nexus devices that have been confirmed for an Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade will receive the update later during the month.

If everything goes well, both Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 should have received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update by the end of the next month. But until Google shares more details on the matter, we can’t be sure of anything.

Keep in mind that Nexus 7 (2013) with LTE should receive the update around the same time as Nexus 4 and 5 smartphones. It’s unclear why Google has decided to hold on to pushing the Lollipop update for these particular devices, but it may have something to do with the fact that they have hardware with cellular data inside.

We will keep an eye out for any additional details on the matter, so stay tuned for more info about Lollipop’s rollout on Nexus devices.
