Good news for those who did not upgrade to Galaxy S5 and kept their Galaxy S4, as Samsung will certainly update the smartphone to the latest version of Android, namely 5.0 Lollipop.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling when exactly the update will be available for download, as Samsung is one of the few major smartphone manufacturers that have yet to make any official statements regarding the Android 5.0 Lollipop roadmap.

There was an alleged Samsung Lollipop roadmap leaked a few days ago that mentioned some of the smartphones that should receive the upgrade in the next few months, but none of the dates appearing in the document has been confirmed yet.

Nevertheless, the folks over at SamMobile managed to get their hands on an early Android 5.0 Lollipop build for Samsung Galaxy S4 and have been kind enough to share the news with the world in the form of a short video preview.

Although it’s an early build of the OS, the Galaxy S4 is faster than ever, so you might wonder why the source of the leak did not publish the ROM for everyone to try out.

A new TouchWiz UI will be implemented in Android 5.0 Lollipop

Well, it looks like the Wi-Fi connection in this Lollipop build does not work, which is why the official ROM won’t be released for the public.

However, from what we can see in the video, it appears that Samsung is working quite fast and if its engineers don’t encounter any nasty issues, we might as well have Lollipop for Galaxy S4 ready in just a few months.

Samsung is expected to release Android 5.0 Lollipop to Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 first. Even though previous rumors pointed to a possible late November / early December release for both smartphones, the leaked roadmap has provided us with new info.

Apparently, Samsung is now testing Lollipop for Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 and plans to kick off the rollout sometime in January 2015 for both high-end phones.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S4 is still awaiting approval for the Lollipop update, so we may not see it arrive until March 2015 at the earliest.

The good news is that Samsung plans to upgrade both Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 LTE versions to Android 5.0 Lollipop, and both should receive the update around the same time.

Anyway, until Samsung comes forward with an official statement regarding these Lollipop updates, nothing is really sure. If you own a Galaxy S4, then stay tuned for more info on the matter.
