Samsung fans in the United States should consider themselves lucky that they will soon be able to purchase the Galaxy Note Edge, a unique smartphone that the South Korean company doesn’t plan to release on a large scale.

Initially introduced in South Korea, the Galaxy Note Edge is more of a prototype unit with which Samsung wants to test and see if there’s any market for it.

Several weeks ago, the handset maker’s officials confirmed that the company intended to ship no more than 1 million Galaxy Note Edge units worldwide, but in the meantime the it changed its vision, probably due to the low profits obtained in the last couple of quarters.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has been confirmed to arrive in the United States on November 14. The phablet will be available for purchase through all major carriers in the country for close to $1,000 (€805) outright.

The decision to bring the Galaxy Note Edge to the US is probably based on the fact that this is one of the most important markets for Samsung and the company thinks that the smartphone will sell very well even if price is so high.

Anyway, there’s a chance that the company will launch the Galaxy Note Edge in other countries as well. However, those waiting for the South Korean handset maker to bring the innovative smartphone in their country may or may not have the luxury of being able to order it from a local carrier or retailer.

Germany loves the Galaxy Note Edge, so Samsung will deliver

That unless Samsung thinks it will sell enough Galaxy Note Edge units to justify a release in a certain country. For example, the company has just kicked off a petition in Germany where those interested in purchasing the Galaxy Note Edge can vote on the official website.

If enough votes come in, then the Korean phone maker will eventually offer the Galaxy Note Edge in Germany as well. Speaking of which, the campaign has to reach 120,210 votes in order to be successful.

Given the fact that almost 82k customers have already voted for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, we expect the milestone to be achieved in the next few days.

We don’t know whether or not Samsung will implement these marketing campaigns in other countries to see whether or not there’s enough interest for a Galaxy Note Edge release, but we can’t see how that would help with the sales, as not all those who vote will actually purchase the smartphone.
