Xiaomi launched the sequel to its Mi Mix phablet only a few months ago, but it looks like a third model is already in the works. A back panel that's believed to belong to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 (or Mi Mix 2s) has just popped up in China.

Although it's hard to believe that Xiaomi will launch another Mi Mix smartphone in the first half of 2018, time and time again we've been shown that almost anything is possible in the smartphone industry.

While we can't vouch for the accuracy of the image leaked, if it would be legit it would mark a premiere for the Mi Mix series. The Mi Mix 3 will be the first phablet in the family to feature a dual-camera setup.

Unlike the Mi Mix 2 that has the single camera in the middle, the Mi Mix 3 has the dual-camera setup placed in the left upper corner. The layout seems rather odd with the fingerprint sensor isolated in the middle of the back side.

In any case, Xiaomi currently focuses on its upcoming Mi 7 flagship, which is expected to be unveiled early next year, so there isn't much to talk about another high-end product coming from the Chinese company.

As a reminder, Xiaomi Mi 7 will be among the first smartphones to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, as confirmed by the company's CEO Lei Jun not long ago
