The iPhone 7 is expected to bring several big changes, including the removal of the 3.5mm audio connector, but recent rumors point to a more significant upgrade that will lead to unrivaled photo quality.

At least one of the models included in the iPhone 7 lineup is expected to come with a dual-camera system, and new photos published by Taiwanese website AppleClub allegedly show the module that Apple is going to use.
Certainly, nothing can be taken for granted at this point, but if the report is true, then the iPhone 7 will indeed bring a major upgrade in terms of camera. As you can see in the photos attached to the article, one of the lens included in the module is bigger than the other, which provides us with a few hints regarding the way the upcoming system is going to work.
Second lens for optical zoom Most likely, the bigger lens will be used for standard shooting while the smaller one will be there either for better focus (which would be specifically helpful for group shots where a wider angle is needed) or for optical zoom.
This latter scenario makes sense, given Apple’s struggle for innovation, as today’s smartphone business is not very familiar with this concept, and the majority of handsets still rely on the traditional digital zoom system.
In this case, mobile phones allow you to zoom in by simply decreasing the angle of view of a photo, which means that it does nothing more than to crop an image around your point of focus. The optical zoom, on the other hand, uses a dedicated lens just for this purpose and does not rely on built-in image processing unless the manufacturer specifically wants to.
If this is the approach that Apple’s aiming for, then the iPhone 7 will definitely bring significant changes in terms of photo quality, but it’s worth mentioning that current speculation claims that only one model will feature such a camera.
This is the iPhone Pro, a new model that will go live with the iPhone 7, which will be bigger than the Plus and come with several exclusively features, including this dual-camera system. Obviously, such information is yet to be confirmed right now, but with more sources pointing in the same direction, the chances are that there’s indeed some truth behind these words.

Apple might use this module only on the Pro model
