Two days ago, what appeared to be the first render of the Nokia 9 showed up online showcasing a rather crazy camera setup that consisted of five image sensors and an LED flash. At the time, and due to the image’s low quality, the veracity of the leak was unclear. But thanks to a new hands-on image of the smartphone, it appears that the recent render was indeed accurate.

Taking a proper look at the photo in question, the Nokia 9 will follow in the footsteps of most 2018 smartphones by utilizing a metal frame, which is home to the volume rocker and power key, sandwiched between a display up front and a glass panel on the rear complete with a glossy finish. While most modern smartphones make use of dual-camera setups or even triple-camera modules, the Nokia 9 looks set to include a huge hexagonal layout.

Presently, it's unclear what exact function each camera sensor will adopt. However, the one positioned towards the very top could easily include a telephoto sensor. Likewise, one of the bottom three may permit wide-angle pictures. When it comes to the remaining three sensors, though, these will presumably be regular ones that work together with the help of software trickery to create just one image. Elsewhere, the top left corner is home to a dual-tone LED flash, while on the opposite side is an extra circle that has been included to make the design uniform.

Considering the original source, this could still be a photoshopped image. However, it’s worth pointing out that reliable source Hikari Calyx has stated that the leak is real. Additionally, it was mentioned that he will soon receive a prototype of the smartphone.

At this point in time, there’s no information as to when Nokia’s flagship can be expected to go official. But with the year coming to an end soon, and the Snapdragon 855 set to be announced in just a couple of months’ time, an announcement by the end of October seems highly likely.
