Apple might be launching the iPhone SE next month, but it’s still the iPhone 7 that’s catching everyone’s attention since it’s expected to come with a long list of improvements.

And even though it’s still very early to talk about the iPhone 7 (its launch is due in September), French website NWE has posted a series of photos that allegedly show the chassis of the upcoming model, along with a series of changes that might be part of the next generation.
Before anything, it’s worth mentioning that the source isn’t sure this is the iPhone 7 and states that it could very well be the Huawei P9, which could sport a chassis similar to the one of the iPhone. So take this with a pinch of salt for the moment because there’s no confirmation these pictures show an iPhone.
But if they do, they most certainly reveal a prototype of the upcoming iPhone that could bring several changes, including a new size. According to the leakers, this chassis can accommodate a screen of 5.2 inches, which could represent the biggest change in the iPhone lineup.
New iPhone size? At this point, the iPhone is available in two different sizes - 4.7 and 5.5 inches - and a new 4.0-inch model will be added as soon as next month. While a 5.2-inch version might not make sense at first, it could actually be the next logical step for the company should it decide to revamp the iPhone lineup and create more consistency into the entire Apple lineup.
Should an iPhone Pro ever see daylight (in order to bring it in line with other products getting a Pro version, such as the MacBook and the iPad), Apple could reduce the size of the iPhone Plus to 5.2 inches to keep the larger screen exclusive to this most powerful version. Of course, this is just pure speculation.
At the same time, these chassis photos also show that the 3.5mm audio connector lives on for the moment, but since it’s just a prototype, a lot could change before the device hits the market. Some modifications to the side buttons could also be made.
Certainly, this is quite an interesting leak, but there’s just too much speculation going on right now to tell for sure whether anything is accurate at this point. The only thing we can do is wait and see what the iPhone 7 will actually bring us.
